DAVID SOUTHERN FINE ART
WINGS (c) 2001
this original piece is of Hummingbird studies from my backyard in San Francisco and Birdwings...the largest butterflies. The males are usually brightly colored while the females are larger but all run in the browns with shades of cream and yellow. Entomologists believed them to be two separate species for quite a long time. A friend of mine sent me these specimens from his own private collection and they remain here in my studio.
